Donington serenaded in the sunshine by the sound of the World’s largest gathering of Desmosedicis.
Over 150 guests witnessed the World’s largest ever gathering of Desmosedici owners at Donington Park as 45 Desmosedicis from all over Europe took to the track.
This exclusive Desmosedici-only track day saw owners from UK, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and France congregate at the Derbyshire track for an historic day boosted by perfect weather.
A number of special guests were present adding to the wonderful day. Alan Jenkins, Desmosedici designer, gave a seminar giving an insight into the production and development of this unique machine. Ernesto Marinelli, the Superbike technical director, gave a presentation on the Ducati Corse organisation and Donington Circuit owner, Simon Gillett, presented the development plans for the Donington circuit.
Off course the main focus of the day was the incredible bike itself and the Desmosedici owners enjoyed nearly two and a half hours of track time on the full GP circuit with optional one to one training from DRE instructors that included ex racers David James, Marco Luchinelli and Dario Marchetti.
For those guests who weren’t riding there was also a chance to have a thrill of a lifetime aboard a specially adapted two-seater Desmosedici. Riders and guests also marvelled at the skills of factory test rider, Vittoriano Guareschi, as he took to the circuit for some demonstration laps aboard a borrowed Desmosedici!
This fantastic day was topped off by the generosity of those present who raised £5,500 for Riders for Health. Ducati UK would like to thank all the owners, guests and participants for making this a hugely successful and historic day and would also like to thank them on behalf of Riders for Health.
